Writing this with a nice cup of GREEN TEA

If I can choose over coffee and tea, tea always wins for me. Almost everyday I will have at least 1 cup of tea. My go-to favorite is green tea! There are endless types of tea green, black, oolong, strawberry, ginger, and anything else you can think of. Green tea has many health benefits so if you don't drink it you may want to start.

Heres a great link about information on green tea Lifehacker Green tea
Lifehacker.com is a great website for any type of life hack you may need from info on green tea to tricks to use with your cell phone.

One website where I buy my tea from is primatea its a lot cheaper than the tea places in the mall and they have a great selection.

Heres a interesting article on how Starbucks is trying to acquire Tevanna(tea store in malls) and how they are going to promote a "life saving" product. Starbucks and tevanna

OHHHHHH AND IF YOU THINK DRINKING LIPTON OR ANY TYPE OF TEA FROM A VENDING MACHINE IS HEALTHY,  YOU MIGHT AS WELL DRINK A "HEALTHY" CAN OF COKE AND EAT SOME "HEALTHY" CHIPS. THERE IS JUST AS MUCH SUGAR AS SODA!

Mexican Coke > American Coke

COCA-COLA

You always see people chugging cans of coke where ever you go, but if you ever had one of those imported glass bottles from mexico or from anywhere else in the world you know ITS SOOOO MUCH BETTER!
Its not because its "imported" or because its in a glass bottle. Its because its made with cane sugar.
The coke were drink to here has high fructose corn syrup in it.

Today it has been made public that the Cola you drink in mexico will now be made with HFCS not cane sugar.

Many people believe its bad for you or it contains mercury, but in the end it just doesn't taste as good.

One good note, we may be able to export corn to mexico

The science is in the taste!
Mexican coke is ditching cane surgar for HFCS

Still Science but also some history....WAIT WHAT TIME IS IT?????

As everyone knows Sunday we had to set back out clocks....YEAHHH WE GOT AN EXTRA HOUR OF SLEEP!!!

First off its not daylight savingS day, but its daylight saving day.

Me personally I would rather lose one hour of sleep one day for it to be light out later than 5pm each day of the year.

Heres a cool little article about how Daylight saving time works. It starts from the big bang and goes on to the history of humans with time. It also quoted about Benjamin Franklin.

"Benjamin Franklin first conceived of DST in 1784, while serving as U.S. ambassador to France. According to the story, he woke one day at 6 a.m. and noticed how many of his fellow Parisians were still in bed, with shutters drawn to keep out the light. As a result, people were sleeping during sunlit hours and burning candles longer into the evening. What if, Franklin wondered, people adjusted their schedules to make better use of the longer summer days? Wouldn't that save large amounts of tallow and wax?"

Its funny because I was listening to a NPR show and they were saying that Benjamin Franklin would never wake up before 12pm because they would always go out at night! The only reason he found out the sun comes out early is because his butler left the blinds open the night before. So basically they were calling him a drunk!

Being that the seasons are changing, trees will be dropping their leaves and animals will be foraging for winter food. Can spring come already!!

Walmart.....when would it ever be sustainable

After shopping at Walmart the other day, I kept thinking how can they be sustainable. Every isle is filled with excess packaging and products that cause pollution in the making.Alaskan fisherman have been protesting because after years of saying they are sustainable, Walmart has still have not made the transformation.Corporation overfishing doesn't only hurt the fish, but the local fisher man in Alaska.Walmart has still haven't gotten to use the MSC( Marine stewardship counsel)logo on most of their fish products. Until they do we cant be sure their practices are sustainable. A large company like Walmart can make big changes in the way our planet is moving to become more sustainable.

 Heres the link http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2013/10/20/alaska-fishermenbattlewalmartoversustainabilitylabel.html

and heres a link for the MSC website to learn more about which fish are sustainable http://www.msc.org/

My sad(cold) Bonsai =(

So last week when the temperature dipped below fifty degrees at night, I left my window open and the cool breeze came into my room. I didn't realize it but Mr. Bonsai(Ficus) doesn't like the cold. Within the last week his leaves started shriveling up and dropping one by one.I though I killed it but after some reading its normal for Bonsais to loose their leaves when stressed and with cold. Heres some interesting links if you want to learn more!

And people complain they don't have a projector in their classroom....

This was the classroom where we learned Swahili and taught the kids basic math and English. It was located in Maji ya Chi, Tanzania.

Costa Rica ranked 2nd in the world for 'environmental sustainability'

Being that I spent a month in Costa Rica, I am always interested in learning the countries progress.
It is official that a "developing" country is 2nd in world environmental sustainability, only trailing to Switzerland. 75.9% of their energy comes from hydroelectric and 17.7% from renewables. It makes you think why can't the U.S. be in the top 2.

PURA VIDA!!!!
